For a healthy ecosystem we need to protect snakes from being caught, killed and having their natural habitats destroyed. Educating communities on living safely alongside snakes can go a long way towards a #HealthierTomorrow.
Snakes are essential for a balanced food web. Without them, a growing population of rodents would destroy crops vital for local economies. With climate change & urban expansion, #snakes lose their natural habitats more interaction with people = more #snakebites. #WorldHealthDay

A key demand by @WHO for #WorldNTDDay is that everyone should have access to information on how to prevent & treat #NTDs. We couldn't agree more! Download your free copy of the #snakebite🐍first aid poster in English, Spanish, Swahili, Luo, or Luganda at https://t.co/efHgoISSKz
On #WorldNTDDay, @WHO stresses that over 1 billion people are affected by #NTDs. Despite all efforts, #snakebite envenoming 🐍continues to be neglected & lacks funding, especially for communities & civil society. See HAI's work on mitigating the suffering: https://t.co/oW2Cv8J4dj
#WCOS ♀️🐍Spoorthi Shetty is a Project Manager and #snakebite educator at Haavu Mattu Naavu, India. This clip⬇️highlights her incredible work educating people in remote rural areas on snakebite prevention and first-aid.

The issue of #transparency and #access2medicines affects everyone, everywhere. As such, we all need to do more to ensure that patients across the #EU understand the importance of transparency, and what that means for their healthcare: https://t.co/XBspbZ6eLk
In a 2021 HAI study, focus groups provided information about 50 unique cases of #snakebite in rural #Kenya. The circumstances under which bites occurred show the importance of preventive measures like wearing shoes and using bednets. https://t.co/sVv7K5nIzu

Thanks to @LDovifat of @MSF_access with who we co-organised the community engagement meetings, and who shares with us some of the key take-aways from the findings of the discussions, including strong advocacy for #snakebite.
Our Kenya in-country partner @dorojuma1 shares community engagement findings around advocacy and rights. The importance of research and capturing voices of snakebite affected communities themselves comes up again. Very important to ensure adequate funding in this area.
I would really like this to happen more often. I'm in the audience for the @HAImedicines@MSF_access report launch for the snakebite community. Intriguing to hear in such detail how the events we facilitated seeded the network
.@HiralNaik25 talks us through another key area of community engagement and #snakebite: conservation and human-snake conflict. Education and sharing of experience, and the need to invest in research is essential.
