DEFINE: “to strangle the Bogeye”
A shearing handpiece looks very similar to a Bogeye lizard.
Mugs always hold it too tight
Hence: Bogeyestrangler=mug shearer
It has dawned on me recently that Twitter is resplendent within users going to extraordinary efforts to help disseminate useful information. At a minimum, their efforts deserve to be acknowledged.
@brivael The polymath Barry Jones, widely held as “the smartest Australian alive“ a few decades ago, would often counter/dismiss that statement in interviews by stating that a builder friend was the smartest person he personally knew in his own life, let alone the nation.
@salltweets Woolworths sit-in 1963 in Jackson, Miss. I wonder how many years past before the members of the enthusiastic crowd would be asking you to “deny your lying eyes.”
@salltweets The most interesting part of the photo from the Woolworths sit-in from 1963 in Jackson Miss. is how the crowd was so sure they were on the “right side of history “ that they happily showed their faces. Fast forward a decade………..
@elonmusk If Versailles was such a great idea, maybe we should spend today’s equivalent on the new Whitehouse ballroom.
Grok suggests the cost equivalent would be a miserly 140 billion and be close to 2kms long
I am sure the workers of today would be just as pleased as they were then
@Nikos_17 In Australia…The (so-called) far-right party, One Nation, began in the late 90s by adopting the pre-90s pro-working class platform of the major left-wing party. The later having jettisoned these in the 90s in favour of the burgeoning white collar middle class.
Great article
@profnfenton@RupertLowe10 Is your GBD position possibly an example of
“letting perfection be the enemy of the good?”
I always thought of (maybe mistakenly) the GBD as a “Hail Mary” counter to the SAGE (lockdowns)… maybe not perfect but a step in the right direction..
PS: love your work.
@craigkellyAFEE Once stopped car to help a mother &16 yr old in a massive fight with out-of-control powerful father [on way to be committed]. At one point, whilst we had him pinned he managed to bite the son’s calf….son punched his own father in temple area >100 times to get him to stop.
@WEschenbach@jamestalarico How how greedy was that Steve Jobs fellow
Worth 1 billion at cancer diagnosis and 9 billion at death..
He essentially got nothing but a life of toil, and all we got were Apple products
How greedy!!
@ianmiles Gold reserves are 200,000 tonnes
Gold in seawater = 20 million tonnes
With that gold we can pay for your iron etc mining project
Just need someone to volunteer to sieve the seawater.
I have a colander if you want to borrow it
@StefanMolyneux Surely lack of money is not the issue. Government spending around the world each year is 35 trillion, climate change spending hit 2 trillion in 2024. Even Gates now sees this as a folly.
@alex_avoigt@basilthegreat The vast majority of counties in the US have very low murder rates. Only 150-250 out of 3000 have higher rates than London.
I imagine even in those 150-250, if you compared like for like demographics, US figures would be even better. Milton Friedman quote is good analogy
