Music Twitter! I have a question.
What hit pop songs have been a capella: unaccompanied singing?
The first I can remember hearing is It's A Fine Day by Jane.

As a German, let me tell you how to distinguish a Nazi salute from a friendly wave:
- Look serious
- Arm straight, not the slightest bit bent
- Hand & arm form a single line
- 4 fingers together tightly
- Angle such that the hand is slightly higher than head

@geoffwilt I've only ever seen Blue Velvet and some of Twin Peaks, all of which I enjoyed.
It will have to be physical media, hardly anything on streaming at all.
The Straight Story is NOT on Disney+ UK; no Criterion here.
Hoping BBC/Film Four have a season.
Fucking pisses me off seeing a transphobe try to adopt Lynch. You can debate a lot of his politics but David Lynch very explicitly was an advocate for trans rights
Never thought I'd be so moved by a tribute to David Lynch from Poland's biggest train manufacturer, accompanied with images that show him sincerely loving the experience of learning about Polish trains.
Can someone explain what the advantages to society are from being able to create photo realistic images that are completely fake with a text prompt? All this energy going into it, just to blur the boundaries of reality. Just to make things worse?
Chronic suicidality is the body and mind crying out for relief from unrelenting pain. It’s not selfish. It’s not attention-seeking. It’s human. But that doesn’t mean it’s your forever.
Well you know what, I really enjoyed it.
Tinnedtomatopurée Showertret's performance was something else. He convinced me as Bob.
Plot? "Accuracy"? Who cares?
A chance to enjoy all those songs and get a flavour of the impact they made.
I'd see it again!
My disability makes it very difficult for me to get and keep a job. My treatment costs over £1k a month at the moment. I am not eligible for any benefits and I've had to survive like this on my own since I was 16. Stop repeating the lie that disability benefits are too high.
Note the huge outcry over the supposed over-diagnosis of anxiety, depression, ADHD, and autism, yet the complete silence when it comes to labelling increasing numbers of people - hundreds of thousands - with a personality disorder.
The idea that somebody found living as a man too difficult so they changed everything about their life to have an “easier” time as a trans woman is just pure misogynistic fantasy.
There is a strange phenomenon where people who have to rely on the welfare state for the first time and discover it to be cruel / inadequate immediately assume that it *must* be far more generous for everyone else, rather than it being cruel / inadequate for most people.
Mr @Nigel_Farage I am sorry that a few words of Arabic can be so triggering. The Lord Mayor did a great job welcoming us with his gesture that cut through the awkwardness and pomp.
But I guess welcoming people in Britain is your worst nightmare.
