Good news for Uganda’s #Ebola response!
The last confirmed Ebola patient has been discharged after testing negative twice, marking the start of the 42-day countdown to the end of the outbreak.

WHO commends the @MinofhealthUG, health workers, communities, and partners for their tireless work to detect cases, trace contacts, strengthen surveillance, and protect communities.

But the response is not over. With ongoing transmission across the border in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, there is the need to maintain the highest level of vigilance to quickly detect and control any new imported cases.

Many infectious causes of diarrhea spread from person-to-person, but Cyclospora is different. This is commonly from ingesting contaminated food/water (e.g. fresh produce).

Direct spread is less common because the parasite must mature outside the body before becoming infectious.
