Rambilas Sharma was the Haryana BJP president twice. He was a five-time MLA and minister. Congress was the ruling party of Haryana.The Chief Minister of that time got irritated with Rambilas Sharma over some issue. Orders were given to the police to pick him up. In the police station, the policemen beat Rambilas Sharma so badly with the butts of their guns that he became unconscious. In freezing cold weather, he was paraded through the market in a half-dead and semi-naked condition. He was taken to the police station, stripped naked, and policemen climbed on his chest and kept beating him with their boots. Worms were released on him. The Congress Chief Minister kept him imprisoned in a dark cell for two years. That was real democracy. Today Narendra Modi is doing dictatorship.

Ruchika Girhotra, a 14-year-old talented tennis player, had gone for practice with her friend Aradhana when SPS Rathore, an IPS officer and President of the Haryana Tennis Association, called both girls to his room. He sent Aradhana outside on the pretext of calling the coach, then grabbed Ruchika, pulled her towards him and molested her. When Ruchika screamed, Aradhana returned and witnessed the incident. Rathore threatened both girls with dire consequences if they spoke out. Despite the threats, Ruchika and her family bravely filed a police complaint, but instead of action, false theft cases were filed against her brother, who was brutally tortured and paraded naked in front of their house. Police in plain clothes repeatedly threatened the family, Ruchika was expelled from school and banned from tennis, leading her into severe depression. Eventually, she took her own life. The Congress and Chautala governments of that time not only failed to act against Rathore but promoted him to Director General of Police. The family fought a long legal battle and finally got him convicted in 2008. Those were the so-called democratic governments — and now people talk about dictatorship.

How real dictatorship looks like — Congress was the ruling party in Haryana and the Chief Minister belonged to the Jat community. In the Chief Minister’s own assembly constituency, a verbal altercation took place between a boy from the Rajput community and a close associate of the CM’s son. The matter reached the darbar of the CM’s son, from where orders were sent to the local police: “Teach them such a lesson that generations will remember it, and keep reporting to me.” The police dragged the entire family to the police station and tortured them. Then, as per the orders from above, the brother, sister, and their mother were stripped naked and put together in the same lock-up. The mother was made to sit naked in front of them, and the brother and sister were again tortured in their naked condition. All three were left naked in the lock-up. When the three of them closed their eyes and sat separately, the policemen forced all three to sleep together in the naked state. That mother could not bear all this and the next morning her dead body was taken out from that lock-up. This incident was reported in national and international media, but no one could do anything to that Chief Minister and his son because they were special to the Royal Family of India.
