I know a Nigerian artiste who doesn’t club, he’s often indoors, he’s not extravagant with spending, he’s happily married with Children, when he dropped a smash hit record in 2022, his booking fee that period was around N200-N400M, he was heavily booked that period.
He’s very wealthy lowkey but many people don’t know, he’s into real estate and he’s a Don in the industry now.
Ochanya Elizabeth Ogbanje, a 13-year-old Nigerian girl, died on October 17, 2018, from vesicovaginal fistula—a debilitating condition caused by prolonged, repeated rapes by her uncle Andrew Ogbuja and his son Victor, starting when she was nine. She lived with them in Abuja to attend school, but suffered years of abuse leading to chronic health issues. The men were charged with culpable homicide but acquitted due to legal technicalities like the statute of limitations, fueling persistent demands for justice and child protection reforms.
Can Believers Be Affected by Generational Curses?
Last week, we discussed whether believers can be affected by generational curses.
To explore this, let’s share a story Apostle Arome Osayi once told about his pastor.
The pastor’s wife was struggling to conceive.
She was from the Southeast, and years ago, her family’s leaders noticed that the women seemed more successful than the men.
In an effort to “correct” this, they consulted a witch doctor.
The sorcerer brought an idol called Small Woman, whose mission was to suppress the women’s progress in favor of the men.
It worked—the men began to thrive, but the women struggled.
However, something unexpected happened: the women in that family started experiencing infertility.
What they didn’t realize was that demons transfer their essence into those who engage them, leaving behind unseen consequences.
This pastor, now married to a woman from that lineage, faced the same issue—no children.
But this woman wasn’t an unbeliever. She was a fervent Christian.
Through fervent intercession, the demonic hold was broken. The siege ended, and fruitfulness returned.
Here’s what we want to emphasize:
1. Should Generational Curses Affect Believers? Absolutely not.
But do they? Yes.
It would be dishonest to ignore the experiences of Christians facing mysterious patterns of oppression—recurring sicknesses, near-success syndrome, or repeated deaths at certain ages.
These are spiritual realities for many believers.
2. Is There Hope? YES!
A curse is a spiritual legal pronouncement that carries negative consequences.
But here’s the truth:
The blood of Jesus has cancelled EVERY curse—before God, man, and Satan.
When Jesus died, you died with Him. And now, you're a new creation in Him.
Dead people aren’t bound.
Dead people can’t be cursed.
"Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, 'Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree')." — Galatians 3:13
The blood of Jesus paid for all your sins—including the ones that gave those curses legal ground over your life.
That cycle of death, demon-induced poverty, marital stagnation—whatever has plagued your family—has been disarmed by the blood.
3. How Do You Break Free?
(1) Raise an altar of prayer.
Choose a specific time daily to pray intentionally.
(2) Be bold.
Do not fear what’s been in your family for generations.
Begin to declare that the curse is nullified—because the blood has paid the price.
It is by boldness that we enter throne of grace.
(3) Stay consistent.
Keep showing up before the throne of grace—with boldness until it breaks.
You will know when it breaks as you won't see the signs anymore.
4. If the Curse Is Broken, Why Do Believers Still Suffer?
Because we must enter into God’s promises—not just know them.
Paul writes:
"Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God." — 2 Corinthians 7:1
God’s promises require action. We must walk into what God has already given.
It’s the same in the Old Testament:
"Then the Lord said to Joshua, 'Do not be afraid, nor be dismayed; take all the people of war with you, and arise, go up to Ai. See, I have given into your hand the king of Ai, his people, his city, and his land.'" — Joshua 8:1
God had already given them the land—but they still had to go up and take it.
You are cleared by the blood.
Now rise, go up to the throne of grace, and claim your liberty.
Your victory is done in Christ. Take it.
God be with you. Amen.
It is Christians that must not gather to joyfully worship at Hallelujah Challenge Festival because the economy is bad.
It is Christians that must not go to church because we must fulfill “economic hours”.
It is Christians that must not go to vigils because we are not productive as a nation.
It is always the Christians and their churches that must be sacrificed for material growth.
It is a disgusting and shameful bias. This is why Christians rightly fight against these narratives.
We are not the majority religion in Nigeria. Let the blame be directed to other religions.
Enough is enough.
Y’all be safe in Ikotun.
My sister was asked to come for a catering job in Ikotun all the way from Abuja.
They even sent her transport fare of 30k and agreed to pay her 200k for a week of cooking.
Turns out they were to cook human meat. Saw two heads and hands.
