Move Against Cancer Africa (MACA) is at the European Lung Cancer Conference (ELCC) 2026, holding currently in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The ELCC is organised by the European Society of Medical Oncology @myESMO in collaboration with the International Association for the study of Lung Cancer @IASLC

It is a collaborative effort among leading multidisciplinary societies representing thoracic oncology specialists. The group’s focus is to advance science, disseminate education, and improve the impact of lung cancer care worldwide.

Our Executive Director, @CalebEgwuenu , delivered a keynote lecture on "Improving Representation in Lung Cancer Advocacy: The EIA Framework — Empowerment, Influence, Action."

Other team members also had poster presentations:
- African Lung Cancer Community of Practice as an Advocacy Tool for Enhancing Early Detection and Treatment in Africa
- Breathe to Live: A Lung Cancer Advocacy and Community Awareness Campaign in Piwoyi, Abuja, Nigeria.

We are thrilled to announce that the Breathe to Live poster by Isaac Joseph was awarded the Best Conference Poster at ELCC 2026!

This is a proud moment for Africa on the global lung cancer stage. MACA remains committed to amplifying African voices in cancer research, advocacy, and policy.

IASLC's World Conference on Lung Cancer #WCLC has been held annually for the past 50 years, bringing together researchers, clinicians, advocates, patients, and policy leaders from around the world. It serves as an important platform for sharing knowledge, advancing research, and strengthening collaboration in the fight against lung cancer and other thoracic diseases.

At this year’s conference, MACA is proud to play an active role. Our Executive Director, Mr. Caleb Egwuenu, will be leading three sessions on patient advocacy, reinforcing our commitment to one of MACA’s core organisational pillars: Advocacy.

We are also delighted to celebrate two of our team members who were recognised with Patient Advocacy Awards. This is a testament to our dedication and the impact of amplifying patient voices in Africa and beyond.
