When enemy forces occupied strategic heights overlooking National Highway 1A, the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Vijay to restore control. What followed was a series of extraordinary acts of courage as soldiers fought uphill against heavily fortified positions in some of the harshest conditions imaginable.

Twenty-seven years later, Kargil Vijay Diwas remains a solemn reminder of the price of freedom and the courage of those who defended it. We remember every soldier who made the supreme sacrifice and honour all who served with unwavering resolve.
