In Forest Explorers this year we spent a lot of time learning to recognise different trees. I mentioned a few times how the Rowan is also known as the Mountain Ash. Well, I was walking up Skafell Pike yesterday with child one and lo, what did I see but a Rowan! Who knew?

We had a fabulous first day in Year 4 on Wednesday. The children shared their Hopes and Dreams for the coming year and recorded them in these kaleidoscopic works of genius!
I can’t wait to start meeting them properly come September!

It was a lovely final day. The children were so helpful - a convoy of little people conveying all my 2D detritus to my new Year 4 home. It has been a challenging year but made all the better thanks to the wonderful parents and fabulous children. I can’t thank you all enough!

At the end the children had the chance to give Murphy a stroke. It was a really sweet and magical end to the session.

This morning to help round off our science topic, Animals Including Humans, Mr Darling’s dog Murphy came into school with Mrs Darling. The children asked lots of questions about how to look after a dog. When they returned to class they recorded all they’d learnt. @BollinPrimSTEM

A bit of holiday fun for you. We have been exploring time over the last few weeks and teaching children how to read an analogue clock to the nearest 5 minutes. So 10 past 2, 25 to 3 and so on. Something to explore together!

I also loved how these girls went off and made a start building their own full-sized tripod shelters. Woo hoo! Why not head off to Dunham and see if you can do this over the holidays?

Lots of fun in Forest Explorers today. We introduced the children to how to make a mini tipi, building on the clothes hitch and lashing work we did last week. Quite challenging but some tipi shelters were made!
