@RyanDePaul@PFT_Live Ask any of his teammates and they’ll tell you he’s always the first one in the building and the last one out, but that won’t make the headlines for some reason🤔
Justin Herbert took by far the most hits amongst all QB's last season, so I'm sure the Chargers are fine with him not there for voluntary reps in May.
As for the “new offense” comment — Mike McDaniel wasn’t there either. If he had been, that argument might actually carry some weight.
This is a nothing-burger, but I get it... clicks.
I genuinely think people will look back at Justin Herbert’s 2022 season differently in a few years. I think of it as one of the biggest carry jobs in NFL history.
Playing nearly the entire season with fractured rib cartilage and a torn labrum would already be enough.
But, doing it while attached to one of the worst defense/coaching combinations modern football has ever produced makes the 10-win season borderline impossible.
But because the season ended with a playoff loss, Herbert got blamed for months despite playing a game where:
• He didn’t turn the ball over once.
• The Chargers RBs combined for 7 rushing yards in the second half.
• The Jaguars scored on EVERY second-half drive.
Most QBs in that situation aren’t blowing a playoff lead.
They’re usually eliminated from contention by Thanksgiving and have a Top-5 pick in the upcoming draft.
@danielrpopper Assuming no major injuries for the Chargers and the opponents during that stretch, what do you think the Chargers’ record will be from weeks 3-10?
