You’re half right. Most networks weren’t individually banned. But saying they “did record it and chose to edit it out” is simply wrong. CNN was removed from the five-network White House TV pool, so ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox refused to replace CNN and suspended normal pool coverage. CNN confirmed the pool filmed none of the Trump–Xi events that day. At the state dinner, the available video was from White House cameras and Chinese state TV, not the normal independent US TV pool.

Could the networks have carried the White House feed? Yes. Some chose not to. But that is very different from claiming they were there, recorded the event, then deliberately edited it out. They were boycotting the pool after CNN was excluded. That’s what actually happened.
