CBI, NIA refute ITLF allegations, say arrests based on evidence

Refuting the allegations levelled by the Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF), officials from both agencies said no partiality has been shown against any community, religion or sect, and that only the rule book of the Indian Penal Code was abided by.

Referring to the recent arrest of Seiminlun Gangte, a tribal, the officials said he is one of the key accused in an SUV blast case that took place in the Kwakta area of Bishnupur district on June 21. Three people were injured in the blast.

The VN Model English High School in its press clarification signed by the Principal today said that Seiminlun Gangte S/o (L) Paokhokai Gangte of J. Phaikholum Village, Churachandpur district served as an Assistant Teacher of the school in English Department cum Warden of the school till 2nd May 2023.

He has no involvement in any anti-social and anti-national activities so far as his knowledge is concerned during his stayed at school.

The Kuki Students Organisation (KSO) said in a statement that two of the suspects - Mr. Malsawm and Mr. Paominlun, are neither cadres of any militant group or have any involvement in the said murder case. “They are president and general secretary of KSO Leimata Block respectively,” and several condemnation were released following the arrest of two students body leader including two minor girl.

Kuki-Zo militant groups demanded a Union Territory similar to the administrative setup of Puducherry. In Delhi, four rounds of talks took place on July 16, August 17, August 31 and September 1. The talks were between the Home Ministry’s North East advisor AK Mishra and the Kuki National Organisation and United People’s Front.

Both groups submitted a “charter of demands” during their last meeting with Mishra on September 1, two sources privy to the discussion told Newslaundry. It’s not clear when the next meeting will take place; one of the sources said it was delayed due to the G20 summit and special Parliament session this month.
