Today we grieve for all those we have lost and and mourn the life we once knew. I will continue to fight for survivors, advocate for justice and work to heal our homeland. #YazidiGenocide
On the 9th anniversary of the Yezidi genocide we see how little has been done to safely resettle Yezidis in Sinjar or abroad and wonder, does the world really understand the consequences of genocide and the almost total destruction of a unique ethno-religious minority?
1) Following Monday's assassination, Turkey yesterday conducted a massacre in #Sinjar, repeatedly bombing a hospital being operated inside a school building. The hospital was run by YBŞ volunteers and served the local community. Eight are confirmed dead so far: 7 Yazidis & 1 Arab
Turkish leader doesn’t give a sh*t whether there were arabs or volunteers, nor it was hospital or school.
They just keep finishing what IS hasn’t finished (yet) under the name of counter terrorism.

Turkish airstrikes target a HOSPITAL in #SINJAR with casualties reported. A hospital!!!
The 2nd airstrike in 2 days, #Turkey is clearly hoping the world is too focused on #Afghanistan to notice their war crimes against #Yazidi genocide survivors. #Iraq

These 9 Yazidis all from Sinjar were killed in Turkish air strikes over the last two days. All of the 9 lived through the genocide 1st hand in 2014. But who cares!
NI condemns, in the strongest terms possible, the reported Turkish airstrikes in #Sinjar. Yesterday, Turkish forces repeatedly bombed a medical facility in Sukayniya village, killing & injuring civilians. Blatant disregard for humanitarian norms & international law is evident.
USCRIF Chair @nadinemaenza: “USCIRF urges #Turkey to cease these attacks in Northern #Iraq that endanger #Yazidis & other religious communities, preventing refugees & IDPs from returning to their homes. We urge the US gov't to condemn Turkey's actions.” https://t.co/unfOQCaIBR
“With every shortcut taken by national and international authorities, the road to recovery for my community becomes longer and more dangerous. Is seven years not long enough?”
“But still, we have not given up.”

“Thoughts and prayers. Promises of ‘never again’.
They are not enough.”
“(Living in makeshift tents without privacy, work, or education) these conditions erode our traditions, our way of life, and our communal ties.”

1) The first ever visit of an Iraqi prime minister to #Sinjar in the post-Saddam era is occurring now. In a telling gesture of dominance over Iraqi PM al-Kadhimi, Turkey has today assassinated a key #Yazidi leader inside Sinjar City who had arrived there as the PM was en-route.
As the world is focused on #Afghanistan, Turkey continues targeting #Yezidis in Sinjar Iraq & #Assyrian region of Tel Tamr Syria. Today a 🇹🇷 strike hit Sinjar's bazaar, killing 2 #Yazidis in the YBS, injuring civilians. Yesterday 50 mortar, artillery shells hit Tel Tamr region.
Today marks a solemn day, the 7th anniversary of the Yezidi Genocide. The United States remains an unwavering ally of Yezidi women and girls and all survivors of ISIS atrocities. Thank you to @Free_Yezidi for inviting us to join in commemorating this important anniversary.
