Our focus is clear at That’s Bone.
In James Baldwin’s unfinished manuscript, “Remember This House”, he embarks on perhaps one of his most intimate testimonies - that of his personal recollections of Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King Jr.
One such revelation James Baldwin illustrates is that while Malcolm and Martin had differing ideologies on the path to equity, equality, and justice - toward the end of MLK’s life, he began to understand Malcolm, and James believed they saw each other on the proverbial “Mountaintop”.
What he meant by this is that you can only turn the other cheek for so long before there’s a time for action by any means necessary.
On this MLK Day in 2025, may we understand what true champions of human progress and decency look like, and may we work evermore to reflect those values in our own communities and households.
