@oroborous This theory would make a lot of sense if Euros were not constantly flaunting their exceptionalism in everyone's face as if it were not equally as tacky as American exceptionalism.
For instance: what you're literally saying here.
@achilleshater I wasn't implying it was your point, I meant it as an example of something I've seen that's in line with the problem you were talking about.
People claiming weird assumptions about the people critical of Shion's design as if they're defending her as an agent individual.
@Portergauge I believe they had an official statement on this at some point during 2 that they were generally trying to make heroes that "Looked relatable," or something along those lines.
Cynical reading: "We can make generically shaped pretty people and print quirky skins for em later."
@thatoneSwyndlr They could (and might) give good narrative reasons for why she has an attractive human face, but that doesn't somehow negate the fact that Blizzard designed this character for their popular commercial product, one which already has a history of commodifying Japanese women.
@Moroatlis Crazy conflating by the DPS defenders too bc even though Dino is overtuned, he's still got one of the easiest counterplays in the world by being a brawl tank that can get out-poked.
@angeliteheart Netease's design philosophy being too shallow to make his kit more interesting to play doesn't disqualify that he's a character people like and want to see more of.
@batman_really@SpiderKnightART I think they secretly actually aren't that far from each other in terms of balance. They both fill a niche and are easily countered, but people commit harder to playing Rogue because she's an aggressive Vanguard option and Storm a passive, slower Duelist option.
@LlZTRUSS This is kind of the problem though.
America is an easy target for many valid reasons but it acts as a lightningrod for other colonizer states like Britain to partake in equally nasty behaviors, and generally get away w/ elitism/classism under the guise it's still "punching up."
@haalaphrodyke While I do get your point, its kind of misguided to take every action he does in Arkham at face value.
Part of the premise of Batman (when written well) is that he is *projecting* that fantasy outwardly, and that when he does stuff this extreme we know he's essentially bluffing
@billylahiff The first time I see ANYTHING about this, EVERY YEAR, is when a Brit starts making some Wojack post about Americans being witless chuds. Evey single time.
"No one is talking about America." God, I wish.
@MessyMossie@SlushiiPls I would argue that it was already a thing that people would definitely complain about this on every Daredevil skin, seeing as they just did this for his last skin that had the exact same issue.
@peligrietzer The point is that, even in performatively omitting herself from their fashion trends by dressing intentionally "un-trendy," every choice she makes exlcuding herself is still the result of choices that the industry made for her. She's no less a victim of trends by polarizing them.
