@EpiEllie Is there also potentially a component of if you're exposed, you're more likely to get sick (not just if you get sick, it'll be worse)? That combo seems to be how I've seen folks use this hypothesis, though it wasn't focused on RSV. Thank you for the great thread!
@jburnmurdoch Not sure I'd call it a strategy per se bc it was accidental, but I requested a bunch of books from the public library that had long hold lists (ie couldn't be renewed), and they all came available at once. The external deadlines pushed me to read them quickly
Haiti is the only country in the world where descendants of enslaved people were forced to pay reparations to descendants of their masters for generations.
Nobody knew exactly how much Haiti paid France — and at what cost to its future — until now. https://t.co/ZxAwpSwJ98
@carmichaelsk @mkturkcan That doesn't fully address their Q though. I have plenty of students who live nearby but have kids, work multiple jobs, etc that make it more difficult to attend in-person. That said, I don't think confounding accounts for all you described; hyflex is harder
@CT_Bergstrom@CiccioneLorenzo@StanDehaene Your first tweet says "the claim... it's hopelessly flawed." I had to read a few of your replies to understand that you only meant the flawed part in relation to the second half of that sentence ("the classic study it's based on")
Can't stop thinking about the company that refused to offer my friend a higher starting salary because "part of our compensation is challenges and opportunities."
(She declined the job offer)

@stone_prof @robingnelson The third section of this website (SAWAA report) is what UCSD is doing. It includes things like considering achievement relative to opportunity. Extending the clock is more like when you've exhausted all other options https://t.co/KGnBBnNiv5
@hannagarth @queerlitbot After the first few words, I thought you were making a Communities-inspired joke about reading Malinowski for the first time :)
Extra appreciative for the start of pleasure reading time this year!
Really enjoying being able to block off today to attend #AAA2021Baltimore virtually, as I wouldn't have been able to travel/ attend otherwise. Love how session recordings are immediately available (eg, for things I missed).
