Maya Johnson, a US Army soldier deployed to Iraq in convoy security, was mocked as the "Church Girl" for praying before every mission-but she refused to stop.
Raised Pentecostal, Maya brought her faith into the war zone-praying out loud before every convoy, playing worship music, and standing firm even when teammates told her to "keep it to herself."
She didn't back down.
Through repeated missions in dangerous territory, her unit was never hit while she was with them. But after she was pulled off convoy duty, the attacks increased. Her team eventually asked her to come back, saying, "Whatever you're doing... it's working."
She returned-and the attacks stopped again.
One moment changed everything: she once drove over a bomb that didn't detonate, while another vehicle behind her hit it and was destroyed.
By the end of her deployment, 300 soldiers returned home safely.
Her message is simple:
"To everyone called too religious or 'too much'-keep praying. You have no idea whose life depends on it."

@Tarmeim When I had someone special, as much as I loved receiving “good morning” & “good night” texts, I absolutely loved telling her good morning first! Especially sending it early enough where it was the first thing she saw when she woke up…nothing brought me more joy than that!!
YES!!! To come home to the woman I love more than life, complain about our sports teams, travel the world together, experience life with her, spend everyday learning everything I can about her, then fall asleep next to her every night…that’s all I want!
