FROM 5 FIGHTERS TO AN EFF WARD CANDIDATE,THIS IS WHAT ORGANISING LOOKS LIKE.

19 year old female ward candidate.

Last year, in Frankfort, Amahlathi Municipality in the Eastern Cape, this ward had only five active @EFFEASTERNCAPE_ Fighters on the ground.

One of those Fighters, @mandisasiy20173 , is someone who deeply loves this organisation but is based overseas. She called me one day and said:

"I talk too much about the EFF on social media, but in my own village I don't even have a branch. This is stressing me. Please help me build one."

I told her, "Call me when you are back in South Africa."

She did.

I travelled from Ekurhuleni, Gauteng, all the way to the Eastern Cape to help build the organisation.

Together with Maza and the young people on the ground, we literally started from scratch.

At the time, Sinesipho Vongwe was only 18 years old. We had absolutely no idea that the young Fighter we were helping to organise with would one day become the EFF ward candidate.

We went to the ground. We knocked on doors. We spoke to people. We recruited. We organised.

Within one week, more than 100 people had expressed interest in joining the EFF.

When I left, the branch was standing.

Today, I look at that same work with an incredible sense of pride.

Sinesipho Vongwe is now 19 years old and is the EFF Ward 12 candidate in Amahlathi Municipality for the 4 November 2026 Local Government Elections.

This branch is also contesting a Local Government Election for the first time.

And that makes this story even more special.

I didn't travel there knowing we were going to produce a candidate. We went there because the organisation needed to be built.

Sometimes Fighters must be willing to help build the EFF beyond their own wards and branches. You don't only organise where it is convenient. You organise where the organisation needs you.

I am from Ekurhuleni, Ward 70, Gauteng, but that did not stop me from travelling to the Eastern Cape and putting my shoulder to the wheel.

Today, seeing a young 19-year-old woman who was part of that organising process emerge as a ward candidate is something that makes me incredibly proud.

This is why we must continue building.

Five Fighters became a branch.
A branch became a political force.
An 18-year-old Fighter became a 19-year-old ward candidate.

That is the power of grassroots organising.

To Maza, the Fighters on the ground and especially Sinesipho Vongwe, I am proud of the work we did together.

Lord, please guide this man as he travels from province to province doing EFF rallies, even across great distances in a single day, Today, he travelled to Mpumalanga and then made his way across to the North West for another rally. Watch over him on every road he takes. Protect him from accidents, danger, fatigue, and anything that may threaten his safety.

Give him strength when he is tired, wisdom behind the wheel, bring him safely to every destination and, most importantly, back home to his Wife and Children.

May Your grace go before him, Your hand remain upon him, and Your protection follow him wherever he goes.
