UK inflation has been much slower to decline over the past few years. Its peak in 2021 was also higher than that of the EU. Higher prices, greater import constraints etc from the EU have all caused, in part, our pothole problems with repairs delayed / expensive due to supply chain issues.

@metaburbia @SimonCarGuy Net contributions have nothing to do with. In the UK we have persistent inflation caused by a weaker pound as a result of Brexit. Inflation means higher costs. Higher costs mean less repairs and supply issues.

I’m unsure why people resort to insults as it is only self demeaning. Your day 1 NI contribution has paid for today’s OAP income not for your income. The government can withdraw this benefit at any time if they so wish. It is theirs, and any previous government’s, preference to extend the age for eligibility instead. Slightly more palatable for the voters. Fact.
