@patricksrarebks Oh, that’s easy. No contest. Trimmed. Whatever you do dust gets into the deckles and the pages tan. Give me trimmed edge every timed. Preferable sprayed. Or marbled. Or gilded. But defo trimmed.

Not my story - it was told to me - but so funny.
A second hand bookshop customer asks for discount on a book as it has a couple of tears. The owner explains condition is taken into account when pricing. The customer says "well, not these tears, because my son just did them!".
Just to say, we remember our visit to @MarshsLibrary very fondly - such a warm and friendly welcome as well as the #beautifulbooks. We're planning a return in the autumn but in the meantime really enjoy your posts.

We knew the librarian Mary Pollard had a printing press in Marsh's Library in the 1970s on which she printed poetry and other single-sheet items. We DIDN'T know until just now that she printed early Seamus Heaney poems and he signed them.....
JOB OPPORTUNITY. Part-time WP support required in #Chartham Hatch, Kent. Ideal for student. Local person preferred. Immediate start possible, flexible working, lots of potential with established independent ecommerce book business. DM me for details.
Cataloguing books today...ideally warm work for freezing weather. I thought 'Fiddler's Frauds' was going to be my title of the day but, wait! No...definitely 'Queer Fiddles for Queer Fiddling'.! I kid you not.
Beatrix Potter - Les Champignon https://t.co/TOPq3K3ppM
Constantly struck by the beauty of her illustrations - and diversity of Beatrix Potter's talent.
