How do you create a safe space for students to share #StreetData around why they’re not coming to school? Listen to two high school students talk about how they approached this as they went to local elementary schools. @JamilaDugan and @MarrenKatie
Just wrapping up #tch432 with some.great examples to share with my staff this year- how do you integrate technology in a meaningful way in your classroom? #edtech
Author of #StreetData that I recently tweeted about -great stuff right here for all of us in education who want to keep it real! #datathatmatters#tch432
Interested in the origin story of #StreetData and the levels of data: satellite, map, and street? Here’s a little personal story-telling that takes us back to 2008, when I was working at the National Equity Project @equityproject@JamilaDugan
I can't believe #TCH432 is practically over. As I reflect back on what we have learned, I know that I need to make technology meaningful in my classroom. To stay up to date, and remember the new resources, I need to create something to reference back to. Any ideas of what?
Who has applied some of the practices highlighted in this text? Loving what I’m reading so far and there are so many takeaways! #tch432#elachat#antiracistteaching
Great words for teaching and learning which can be applied across the disciplines. Having these words displayed in classrooms can also initiate students to discuss their own understanding and learning. #elachat#tch432
Introduction to the TPACK Model https://t.co/Fs9Iq8lGld via @CommonSenseEd This week we integrated the TPACK model within our curriculum. I learned to balance technology, pedagogy, and content is key. “Less is more”. #TCH432
Educational book recommendation - Street Data by Safir and Dugan - great, easy read that is completely applicable to teaching and learning! #transformationalleadership#tch432
Student voice and choice is an area that I really want to improve upon this coming school year. Hopefully that will create a more authentic learning experience. #tch432
The Importance of Student Choice Across All Grade Levels https://t.co/uOCiKLE40x
The purpose of leadership is to listen, inspire, hold space for others to make meaning, model excellent pedagogy, and build a culture of transformation. There is no hammer in this picture. It's about slowing down, really seeing/hearing people, & moving with humility + integrity.
No quantitative data point will explain why a child is hurting. No “metric” will illuminate hidden stories of harm in our schools. The babies are struggling right now—to breathe, to be okay, sometime to survive. The way forward is deep listening, keen observation, & #streetdata.
Many thanks to @MIOpera for letting me attend a dress rehearsal to observe and take some notes - much appreciated! Anyone Blo-No Local - check out Sound of Music this weekend and their upcoming schedule - great regional option for high quality musical productions! #TCH432
