@blong0108 nascar was better in 2026 than any year from 2014-2025, but on the whole i agree. It’s not nostalgia, things used to be better. especially in the context of sports. how can i be nostalgic for an era of sports that existed before i was a fan? make it make sense

@WillieTheTiger @J2sHeadband you’re looking at the old format through a modern lense. back in the day winning the natty wasn’t the only thing that mattered. regional rivalries, doing well in your conference, making a prestigious bowl. when you got knocked out you wanted to stick it to the teams in contention

1. the conferences are destroyed. ex: teams in calfornia playing in the atlantic conference. Regionality has been completely destroyed, rivalry games have been destroyed by a combination of this and the fact that it really doesn’t matter if you lose a rivalry game anymore

@WestCoastCFB i have to disagree, the playoff expanded in 2024 and that was the first 3 loss champion since the incredibly wild 2007 season. The best teams are gonna get more chances to win, parity will not increase
