Pay attention to this: the woman on the left is Liberata Ríos, from Argentina. Two weeks ago, she turned 101 years old.

Liberata learned to play chess at the age of 85.

In 2019, she won her first regional title in the seniors category, at age 93. In 2020, during the pandemic, she learned to play online.

Thanks to Marco, from the ‘Pawn in the 7th Rank’ chess school (that’s where Liberata learned the game), for their great work promoting chess and for sharing this story with us.
