The Tortured Poets Department. This period of the author’s life is now over, the chapter closed and boarded up. There is nothing to avenge, no scores to settle once wounds have healed. And upon further reflection, a good number of them turned out to be self-inflicted. This writer is of the firm belief that our tears become holy in the form of ink on a page. Once we have spoken our saddest story, we can be free of it.

.@samlansky has such a wondrous way with words, and I’ve loved reading his pieces for over a decade. If you’ve ever been around him, you know he’s just the best type of person: Curious. Interested. Hilarious. Intriguing and intrigued. I have tRuSt iSSueS when it comes to interviews but I couldn’t be happier that I did this one with him. I was blown away to see quotes from people I adore and admire like Stevie Nicks, Greta Gerwig, Shonda Rhimes, Phoebe Bridgers, Natalie Maines, Kenny Chesney, and Lucian Grainge. I was so happy he spoke to fans Madison and McCall who were so eloquent, loyal, and kind. I’m really reflecting on this year, and all the years that led up to it. Can’t say thank you enough times. 🥲

Day 4 Hunger Strike

My last meal was December 5, 2023 at 10 pm. It has been 92 hours since my last meal. I am starting to shake a bit. But the shaking stops when I drink buko juice.

I am fine and unfazed. And so is Eric.

There are some things we cannot live without. I thought solid food was one of them. 

It turns out I can go without solid food for this long (the longest I’ve done thus far) because there are some things that should matter more to us  than this basic need to eat. 

And it is this: to see our country free of terrorists and petty tyrants and to have it led by courageous, incorruptible leaders whose hearts are sincere in their desire to serve the Filipino people. Leaders who will give to our children their best and their utmost defense and protection.

We must ensure that each and every Filipino’s rights remain sacred and inviolate. 

I want this even more now after my own rights were violated with great impunity by our own Representatives.


I am glad the Filipino people saw it first hand because it would have been so hard to describe the horror show that unfolded before my very eyes with me and Ka Eric and SMNI at the receiving end. 

And I am grateful that the pain of that spectacle of boorish representatives who refused to be held accountable to us has galvanised us as a people.

Let us not also not forget that it is the CPP NPA NDF partylist behind all these and that they have used the Speaker and the entire Congress as their machinery to once again wreak havoc in our country.

The stealth and cunning they’ve used so that now our people have focused their rage on the congressmen and congresswomen (and rightly so) but not on them is a classic CPP NPA NDF maneuver: do the deed and hide behind the shadows and let government take the fall.

Then divide the country.

Classic.

This hunger strike is also a red flag we are waving to highlight the manipulation of the CPP NPA NDF inside the House so that now they are staging a most amazing comeback from the dead.

But this will never happen.

I know I share this sentiment with the entire country and the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police even more.

I would therefore ask our people to unite and make sure that the CPP NPA NDF be totally destroyed and never be allowed to touch our children ever again. 

Let us demand from Congress that they stop their betrayal of the Filipino people and to cut their ties with the CPP NPA NDF partylists NOW.

Marami nang nagbuwis ng buhay dito. Hindi na nating maibilang ilan sa mga anak natin ang na-recruit nila France Castro, Raoul Manuel, Arlene Brosas at nagkandamatay bilang NPA. 

Hindi na rin natin maibilang ilan sa mga kapatid nating katutubo ang pinagpapatay at pinagwawasak ng mga teroristang ito.

Lampas 50,000 ng ating mga kasundaluhan at kapulisan ang nagkandamatay–Pilipino pumapatay ng kapwa Pilipino– dahil lang sa napakawalang kwentang gera ng mga komunistang teroristang CPP NPA NDF. 

Ano naman klase tayong Bansa kung papayag pa tayo na maulit muli ang madilim na kasaysayan na yan sa mga anak natin? 

Napabagsak na natin sila. Malapit na silang mawala sa mundong ibabaw. Hindi lang tayo nananalo kundi NANALO na tayo. 

Wag na wag tayong papayag na makabangon pa muli ang CPP NPA NDF.
