I'm not on Twitter these days since Mastodon has become a cool place, but posting since a lot of you still only follow me here and might be interested.
I'm shutting down KanbanMail! Feeling happy looking back over the journey it's been π«Ά Read more here: https://t.co/Trs1e2F0bv
@matteing Come join the party on Mastodon, it's grown a ton since you would have last checked it out... There are lots of tech & urbanism people on there, and a few makers like @[email protected]. I think you'd like the vibe there!
Now with the whole #TwitterMigration, there are more than enough interesting people to follow on there across various subject matters, and thereβs no longer an excuse for you guys not to have accounts there either!
So Iβve left Twitter completely, hope to see you on Mastodon π
Well, guess Iβm posting this now cause Iβm not sure how long until Twitter locks down further again posting Mastodon linksβ¦
Iβve completely left Twitter, follow me on Mastodon instead (although I havenβt been that active on there lately either):

When they stopped letting you view profiles without signing up (about a year ago), I seriously considered leaving. I didnβt want to be producing content for free to funnel people into Twitterβs revenue system.
But back then Mastodon wasnβt big enough for me to leave Twitter.
β οΈπ The option to view charts by source of infection on https://t.co/n72pOhjkI7 is no longer available, as NSW Health has discontinued the dataset (see reason below).
Don't worry though, everything else (including other charts) will continue to work with the newer dataset.
By the way, apologies to anyone who's emailed or tagged me who hasn't received a response yet!
I'm in the middle of doing my HSC so I'm unable to keep up with every single email at the moment, but hope to reply to them all eventually.
For those who are following me because of my work on https://t.co/n72pOhjkI7:
πππ I just added vaccination charts!!
π You can now see each postcode or council's progression over time for 1st and 2nd doses β so far I think I'm the only site that displays the data like this!
Also, in case the name of the site isn't self explanatory, these charts are for NSW only!
And by "displays the data like this" I meant with the charts over time. If you want to see the same data in a map form, the NSW Gov site is great! π

Honest web dev question:
Why is CORS necessary? If the cookies, etags, cache, etc. were completely separated from those used for first-party requests to the site, what would be the security issue with allowing fetch() for any URL?
cc @DasSurma@tomayac@jaffathecake
@jaffathecake@blaine@timdream@DasSurma@tomayac Ahh, I see.
Would adding a browser permission for it work? Something like "this site is wanting to make requests on your behalf of your device"? (even though there's no cookies or anything, but it's more understandable than "from your IP")
@ryanseanbadger That kinda defeats the whole purpose of checking for new content though!
(also, on a higher-level view, I think it would enable a whole new class of web apps that can survive sustainably with essentially zero costs, reducing the need to monetize unless wanting to make a profit)
