At the beginning of this year I mentioned how I want to do a Charity Marathon each month for different causes that I care about, and tomorrow we're starting that journey raising money for the Sexual Violence Prevention Association!

More of my reasoning for selecting this charity:

It's no secret how absolutely horrific generative ai is to countless groups of people from a width of different backgrounds, but the constant and calculated attack against women, nonbinary and trans people, along with even CHILDREN to use gen ai to create non consensual images is revolting. SVPA helped and "worked with victims to write The DEFIANCE Act. The DEFIANCE Act will address and prevent nonconsensual deepfake pornography by providing victims a civil right of action to seek justice."

On top of that, the have a fantastic impact report you can view on their website and are a member of 11 different coalitions and groups, including the Gender Equality Coalition and AI Moratorium Coalition.

I also just appreciate how their website is laid out. It's clear they are focused on connecting with the next generation and youth advocacy to continue the fight against sexual violence. They also openly and proudly do everything they can to protect trans and nonbinary individuals and groups, which unfortunately with this current administration isn't as common as it needs to be.

I really believe our community can help make a sizeable impact to help SVPA continue their mission, and I look forward to raising an awesome amount of money this weekend. I personally will be donating 1 dollar for every run that I complete, along with an additional 10 dollars for every run under 20 minutes. See you there!
