@GrammarHippy Option 1:
Enemy = DIY
It’s a waste of their time, money, and energy.
Option 2:
Enemy = Losing their best friend
If they don’t act now, their dog may hurt someone, hurt itself, or be too much for them to handle — forcing them to give away their best friend.
@arrowmvn Great tip. People want certainty. That’s why guarantees are powerful.
One caveat:
Sometimes we have to soften our words for legal purposes. Like for a contest. Or medical devices. Or prescription drugs.
Ex:
“Results may vary”
“you could get up to”
“For your chance to”
Writing tip:
Watch more movies.
Pay close attention to:
- dialogue
- pacing
- story arch
Recognizing these elements will make your brand storytelling more powerful.

I sure hope so.

Copy tip:
Find a visual metaphor.
Instead of literally saying what your product or service does…
Talk about what it’s like.
Ex:
Texting and driving is like driving blindfolded 👇🏼
Every brand needs a recognizable visual element.
It could be a logo, like the Swoosh for Nike.
It could be the shape of your packaging like the Absolute Vodka bottle.
Or even the grille on a Jeep…
Your brand needs something that’s recognizable without using words.
Advertising tip:
Think outside the ad placement.
Ex:
IKEA turned its print ad into a pregnancy test, as a way to give a discount for a baby carriage.
Weird, for sure.
But also quite genius.
When done right, hacking the ad space leads to a more memorable message.
