We held out as long as we could.
In all seriousness, we've been writing AI-assisted code at Boot .dev for quite awhile. It took time for the models and tooling to get good enough for real best practices to emerge, and (candidly) for us to get good enough at it to have something worth teaching.
Now we do.
95 interactive lessons. You'll build a real interpreter with OpenCode v2. It covers all the important features of modern agents, plus the hard-won tips we've learned through every day usage.. and a few guest-takes from @thdxr on the OpenCode team.
Enjoy.
While I spend most of every day working with LLMs and have managed to adapt to it so far, I would turn back the clock on this technology if it were within my power. I just see huge and diverse negative effects, while the positives are fewer, smaller, surprisingly incremental.
Our AI Coding Course with OpenCode Launches on Monday!!! We've been waiting over a year to release this bad boi, as we've wanted to make sure we actually understand the tools well enough to teach them.
The last thing we ever wanted was to ship a course that instantly become obsolete, or to teach usage patterns that aren't actually good long-term.
The course purposefully comes at the END of our programming curriculum, because to use these power tools effectively, you still have to KNOW HOW to code by hand - even if you'll hardly ever hand-code in practice. And we don't ship slop here, ever.
Wondering how to signal to users that your app isn't a vibe-coded piece of slop?
Write an entire fantasy novel of the course of several years about your mascot and his adventures
Chapter 15 just dropped today
Pewdiepie is SO BACK. Building and learning real stuff, even after all the success he's had.
He's an inspiration to the youths. we need to protect him. I'm so proud he lets us continue to sponsor him.
The real reason for Boot dev's existence was to build the platform that would train more new backend developers than anywhere else
...and then to make 10000% sure it didn't teach Java
Huge thank you to everyone who came out to my Big BlizzCon Extravaganza and to @bootdotdev for making it happen! Had an absolute blast and you guys made this weekend special

The biggest misconception about Bootdev is that people take our courses to learn new things, improve their lives, and get into better careers
We've always been very clear on this: it's actually about the digital confetti, loot boxes, and leaderboard stats
Having a great time at my BlizzCon event tonight. Huge thanks to @bootdotdev for partnering with me on this one. If you’re wanting to learn how to code, check out https://t.co/z1cRGRkkVf. They turn it into a gamified RPG 🤝
