I'm proud of the work the committee accomplished. We strongly believe the changes made will improve the game and enhance the student-athlete, coach, official, and fan experience. https://t.co/noZDh7kl8z @NFHS_Org@KSHSAA@JohnDehan@ksoasports

It’s the best call I’ve ever made. https://t.co/0KLhYQ4bpx @JohnDehan@KSHSAA@ksoasports
We discussed this today during the @NABC1927 Annual Convention. The number of girls participating in high school basketball have decreased by close to 43,000 in the past six years. In large part due to increased participation in flag football, wrestling, and club volleyball. How do we get them back. Multi-sport athletes are more-well rounded. They don’t have to choose one over the other.
It was an honor (and a lot of fun!) to engage with high school basketball coaches nationwide at the @NABC1927 Annual Convention, where we explored ways to shape the future of the game, discussing @NFHS_Org rule changes, proposed updates for SY 26-27, and strategies to boost student participation. A huge thank you to NFHS for allowing me to participate and be an advocate of the game. @KSHSAA@JohnDehan@ksoasports
Im asked why do I officiate and assign. I spent the day with 30 other assignors and @KSHSAA staff sharing ideas. And then shared some time with my mentor. It's a fraternity like no other. Be apart of the game join the 3rd team and become an official. @ksoasports
Not everyone plays by the rules.
But I do.
As an official, it’s my job to show student-athletes how to do the right thing, even when the game is on the line.

A HUGE shout-out to the @kshsaa for another outstanding week of state tournament basketball. If you're not aware, the team at KSHSAA has been working for 2+ years to consolidate two classes into one location. This modification allows more titles to be determined at a single location! And, boy, did it deliver. Kudos to KSHSAA for their forward-thinking and work to pull off these major events, to all of the student-athletes and coaches who earned the right to participate, and to the officials who were selected to work on the state's largest and brightest stages. @ksoasports@NFHS_Org@JohnDehan
@PaskeKSHSAA - Just to put everyone's mind at ease and assure you the official absolutely nailed this call,
Rule 9-1-3-e states - "The free thrower shall not have either foot beyond the vertical plane of the edge of the free-throw line which is farther from the basket or the free-throw semicircle line until the ball touches the ring or until the free throw ends."
The attached clip and screen grab show the player had broken the vertical plane. Well done, stripes, well done!
Can’t wait to record our @KSHSAA State 🏀 Preview Show tonight‼️

Why do students play high school sports? To have FUN.
But in today’s “high school grind” — packed schedules, pressure to win, year-round competition and social media noise — that joy can get lost.
