🗣️ @SenatorLamar: “Teachers don’t even want this. This bill is dangerous... look at that gallery. Those mothers are asking you not to do this.”
With a baby in her arms. Powerful. But every Senate Republican voted yes anyway, as troopers dragged out the moms above.
The lawmakers pass new legislation that requires public schools to teach children about firearms starting in pre-kindergarten. Republicans voted down an amendment allowing parents to opt their children out of the “training.” https://t.co/YvR8ReRHbx
NEW: Tennessee @MomsDemand volunteer Linda McFadyen-Ketchum was just dragged out of the Tennessee Senate gallery by State Troopers. Lawmakers claimed observers were too loud during their discussion of a bill to allow more guns in schools. WE SEE YOU GOP!!!
State troopers almost had to forcibly remove Linda McFadyen-Ketchum of Moms Demand Action from the Senate gallery. She refused to clear out after the gallery was vacated because people were being loud during discussion on a bill that would allow more guns at schools.
WATCH: “Shame on us, Mister Speaker.”
JUST NOW — the arming teachers bill passed the Senate on party lines with Republican support, as @ltgovmcnally had parents removed from the balcony and @yarbro & @TNSenateDems said it isn’t what most Tennesseans want to keep kids safe.
It only takes a minute or two to call or write to your #Tennessee state senator and ask them to vote NO on SB1325. Arming teachers is NOT the answer to gun violence. ERPOs & safe storage laws are! #DoctorsForGunSafety

Maybe if TN Republicans focused on adequately funding our public schools instead of trying to use public funds for their voucher scam, our state would have a top-tier education system. Just a thought.
These guys will scream Socialism for feeding a hungry kid lunch, but then claim it’s Conservative to subsidize a rich family’s private school that discriminates by disability and religion.
It's sad that Marsha Blackburn and the GOP have such contempt for our public schools, teachers, and students. But it makes it that much more important that we beat them in November.
As a survivor of rape myself, I find 1) Mace’s endorsement of Trump shameful and without integrity, and 2) her response to being legitimately and respectfully questioned understandable. She’s triggered. And still making nice.
Lookout photojournalist @PartipiloJ
captured the moment an altercation broke out on the Tennessee House floor Thursday between Nashville Democrat John Ray Clemmons, right, and Republican Scott Cepicky, over Cepicky's alleged disparaging comments about Metro Nashville Schools.
Chew on this…. A family of four making $56K isn’t eligible for free & reduced school lunch in TN. But with Jack Johnson’s Voucher bill, a family of four making $560K can receive more than 14K in private school subsidies. #ReverseRobinHood#EntitlementsJack
WATCH: “Cameron, why’d you move your presser this week? Worried about the Justins watching you?”
As he moved his presser to keep @brotherjones_ & @Justinjpearson out, thin-skinned Speaker Sexton delighted in the fact that the Capitol press corps keeps us out. (Which is true)
WATCH: “Speaker Sexton moved his weekly presser to this secret room… keeping lawmakers out. Democracy dies in darkness.”
@brotherjones_ & @Justinjpearson were staying to listen to @CSexton25’s weekly press gaggle, so he moved it behind closed doors to keep them (and us) out.
