After raising a $270 million funding round last year – putting it at a valuation of $4 billion – Skims has been actively expanding its distribution. This includes doing more in retail.
It was interesting to see the shop-in-shop concept at Nordstrom – which was the first ever retail partner for Skims.
It would have been very easy to use standard fixtures – but this would be off brand for Skims. Instead, custom fixtures have been designed by Perron-Rottinger, the design studio that has worked on various pop-up spaces for the brand.
The result is a space that feels quite distinct from the rest of the intimates section.
My only criticism would be the placement. The area is somewhat crammed in between other departments and brands and doesn’t really have enough space to breathe. But, other than that, it looks impactful and stands out from the crowd.
