Been getting some DMs lately asking: “How did you get into professional baseball?” or “How can I stand out?”
Heading into Spring Training number✌️with the Tiger's, here’s my path from D3 pitcher ➡️ Outfield coach ➡️ Tread Athletics ➡️ Tigers Pitching Coordinator.
A thread 🧵👇
This is the kind of stuff that you won’t get anywhere but in @MiLB… and I can neither confirm nor deny, if I see this at a @Kcannonballers game, we may be able to make it happen! 👀
If I was a D1 coach, and I was recruiting HS kids, I would have their strength coach on speed dial. If that kid isn’t in the weight room constantly, generally speaking, I would be ready to move on. Minimizes his chance to compete while he skips the gym because he’s basking in his .485 public school batting average.
Committed HS kids need to hear the cold, hard truth before it’s too late.

You know whats underrated? Collegiate Club Baseball.
I know those players have no future in baseball, but its hard to beat that experience.
Imagine traveling around to BIG 10 schools every weekend with your buddies, playing a 3 game series and partying at night. Epic.
No 6:30am weights
No coach breathing down your neck
No study hall
No politics
Just pure baseball!
If you want to extend your playing career, just know that Collegiate Club Ball is a good option which doesnt get enough talk.
The competition is actually fairly decent - you'll see 80mph+ almost always. It's well run with playoffs and national championships and just all around FUN!
