Today we responded to the SEC’s Wells notice, explaining why the technology we build is good, why it’s safe, and why it’s legal.

When regulators try to litigate new technologies out of existence, only well-resourced companies like @Uniswap Labs can fight back. For the US to keep leading in tech and finance, teams need to be able to innovate *in* the US.

Instead of forcing users to transact via intermediaries, Uniswap allows users to transact with each other directly, and to hold their assets themselves. This gives people unprecedented agency to control what they own, and to create value on the Internet in new ways.

Crypto changes fast, but at Uniswap Labs a few things are always the same: a focus on serving users, a passionate team with real names and faces, and a consistent commitment to fight for the values of DeFi.

That won’t change. Proud to build @Uniswap yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

We believe the SEC should embrace open source technology that makes markets cheaper, faster, and more safe

Tokens are a file format, like a pdf. And the Uniswap Protocol is a general purpose internet protocol that anyone can use and integrate, like TCP/IP

With their theories, the SEC is seeking to dramatically expand their jurisdiction to cover all digital value, open source code, and general purpose internet communications protocols

This is not their job - they are meant to be a securities regulator that enforces disclosures related to the sale and trading of securities - not the world internet police

This SEC’s reckless approach to crypto has not protected consumers and has caused immeasurable harm in the US - to individuals, businesses, and the state itself. We should lead on internet innovation, not stifle it

We are proud of our work and have nothing to hide. We’re ready to fight for Uniswap and DeFi in court. And we’re ready to win 🦄
