Our amazing 6th grade Social Studies teachers at Oklahoma Road Middle School had Egyptologist Tori Finlayson speak to students this morning about her work.
Grateful for the experience to conduct mock interviews for students at the Career and Tech Center yesterday. The students were very professional and passionate about their skills. The future is bright! @CCPSk12
I may not be specifically teaching history anymore, but that doesn’t mean I’m still not a Social Studies/History teacher at heart. Here is a great resource for processing the attacks in Israel with your students @facinghistory@CCPS_SocStudies

A great day for the 8th Graders of Northwest Middle today at Outdoor School. They missed out on Outdoor School in 6th gr. due to Covid, so this group was able to experience it in-person! Thank you @ODS_Principal and staff for helping us create a perfect day! @CCPS_ODS@CCPSk12
15 days of school and 9 actual teaching days: my students are still debating! Today, they argued Reconstruction Plans for the South. “Which Plan was the most Successful to Reunify the Country?” The real question should be…Can I get through the curriculum? @CCPS_SocStudies
Robert "Bird" Brown has a special legacy here at WHS. He was a teacher, coach, and friend to many. We'd like to honor him on his birthday, May 1st, by inviting everyone to wear tie-dye to celebrate the incredible impact he had on our community. "Live your dash!"
Students in my class debating Lincoln’s Options at Fort Sumter. Using Primary sources of Cabinet members advice from 1861, the students debated in small groups and voted thinking what would be the best decision socially, politically, and economically? @CCPS_SocStudies
Students in my class researched and presented the advantages of the North v. South in the Civil War and they had to make predictions based on their findings. They had to find primary sources to support their theories. They found some amazing sources! @CCPS_SocStudies
Our SIT team and Team Leaders treated our staff at Northwest to an ice cream social today as a morale booster. Take care of each other! Thank you to all who assisted with organizing! 🍨
Students in my class held a Reformer’s Convention today (complete with “refreshments”) to “meet” their assigned reformers from the 1800’s and their impacts on History. They are then voting on their “Final Four” Reformers. #ourmarchmadness. @CCPS_SocStudies
