An advice from a survivor of abuse: Prioritise your safety & health, but please do not stay silent. Start a whisper campaign because trust me, even if you are trying to move on, your abuser is busy 24x7 telling people lies about you so that you are ostracised (continued..)
Taba Reema an award winning Arunachalee actress have exposed NHPCs 10.9 Crore paid PR. Apparently she received emails from PR team on making reels on the advantage of Dam in siang. The PR team tried to collaborate with many creators from Arunachal but everyone reportely declined.
A heavy #police deployment was witnessed at #ArunachalBhavan in #Delhi, where youth groups protesting under the banner of Himkhand and Youth for Change #protested against the #Sianghydroproject, militarisation, and the arrest of activists. Reports indicate that the police have detained multiple individuals, including #Sianghydropower activist Katon Moyong, popularly known as Aborman.
@Soren_Media@abhignarigala People who have never known a life without a strong support system in the form of caste networks cannot see their own privilege.
This has always been my firm stance. No one should have to prove their ‘value’ or ‘merit’ or ‘patriotism’ to avoid being otherised, dehumanised and destroyed.
they shouldn’t be valued because they “bled for the country” they should be valued because they are humans their government swore to protect and consistently fails at. You people rag abt separatists but constantly see NE as an othered entity
@Saksham70486486@hawaiijar I’m not the kind of person who isn’t open to watching different media. I’ve given the classics a watch & I’ve watched my share of Bollywood movies. The issue here isn’t if Bollywood is worth it or not. It’s just not as important to me as it is to others.
@Aaryan98813652@hyaesmu Simple! So that you don’t get away saying outrageous stuff like ‘when u are actually shit…’ when you know nothing about other cultures and realities. The world does not revolve around the commercial movies you consume. Bye!
@Saksham70486486@hawaiijar Chipping in to say, no, honestly I do think it’s just entitlement. Growing up some of us were bullied for not being into Bollywood so we learnt to not say it out loud. You are immediately marked as an ‘other’ for not being a fan of dominant culture.
@Aaryan98813652@hyaesmu I’m not from Manipur but Bollywood has zero impact on my life while I have such deep respect for Manipur’s art, culture, & literary scene. You have no idea what you’re talking about. That state is full of creative individuals who have done so much despite unimaginable hardship.
Also, the institutional discrimination Northeastern folk face on campus and in the workplace outside NE, as well as in interpersonal relationships, continues to be a reality that is regularly dismissed.
you can ask any Northeasterns who live in delhi or anywhere outside NE if they have been subjected to racist slurs like momos and chinkis and they'll have a whole list of stories btw
In India, NE women & queer folk have a long history of facing harassment & gendered discrimination rooted in fetishisation. I despise the fairly new term ‘NE baddie’, but the fetishisation & othering were always there. Many lives have been destroyed because of this.
North-Easterners would rather be a whore to US/China than be India’s wife.Mainlanders need to realise these are out-groups to be replaced not citizens of equal standing in the republic as me and you.
@yethamphetamine@cherrischeol You colonisers cause destruction everywhere. And stop calling others ‘junglee’ you casteist cow piss drinker. ‘Making imaginary scenarios..’ stfu
you all have blood on your hands.
@Mg___li47 They’ve been constantly victim-blaming and saying the vilest things about people suffering in Manipur. This gang doesn’t care and are here to destroy lives.
Yes. As long as this obsession with focusing on or spotlighting ONLY ‘celebrity’ figures exists, hierarchy can’t be demolished. Savarna media is obsessed with social/caste capital. The constant erasure of Dalit assertion is also an act of violence.
Exactly! Yes masoom got detained but why is that the focus of all news outlets? Can we bring back focus on Sahil’s parents, minors, students and every person who faced violence
To all those who have been on the ground since the beginning and building resistance against this
The Hindu referred to Deepali Salve (@deepali_writes) as merely another “participant” in the October 25 protest, when she was, in fact, leading it as an Ambedkarite Dalit woman leader. Despite being placed under house arrest and detained, she made her way to Chaityabhoomi amid a heavy police deployment.
Indian Express's big HL from today is about NHPC's "PR push" over the proposed Siang dam — a story @Bengiaajum broke nearly a week ago:

Good journalism requires we credit — a newspaper giant can afford to, esp. when it's building on work by NE reporters.
