@SpeelingBChamp The cartoon image on that book. Who is that supposed to represent? If you say you dont know, I guess all the supposed statues and images of Jesus out there, dont really exist, so they're all fine because its just a random guy.
@SpeelingBChamp Has any actor ever played the role of Jesus? I think the issue is less about divinity and images, and more about the fundamental concept of representing thing with variables in visual form. Can any historical person be represented in media?
@DreadyNaz@DaneDe4orest Agreed. Like I said, specific limitation on the kings issue. Futhermore, you really tend to only end up with multiple wives if you look to other woman, while married, which would be adultery, and your wife isnt okay with it. It would be infidelity.
@DreadyNaz@DaneDe4orest Dane's question pertains to kings, and leaders. You said outright "there's no commandment in the Torah against it". I pointed one about Kings. I dont see where it limits the prohibition to outsiders, seems like it was about horses in Egypt.
@SpeelingBChamp Goal post moved. So they can exist, they're just not good?
My only point was that statues, or any visual medium, can serve to represent something, sometimes to convey ideas or tell a story. A childrens story book might use images representing Jesus for example.
@DreadyNaz@DaneDe4orest “Neither shall he multiply wives for himself, lest his heart turn away; nor shall he greatly multiply silver and gold for himself.”
Deuteronomy 17:17
Seems like a command against it if I've ever seen one.
@SpeelingBChamp “The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! ”
Jesus is the Lamb of God. Not the calf of God.
Lets put it this way, a visual representation, is essentially a hi res symbol, or a description, a pfp of Jesus
@DrIrumch Noticed some people say yes, but consider this, if the woman is your own daughter. Now how do you feel? Suppose she is 18 now, and the man is her high school teacher, or a Pastor, or maybe a Rabbi lol. Feel different?
@TheExBeliever ever seen the movie Prometheus? Perhaps God is the Engineer, and used technology beyond our current understanding to craft life. Evolution, yes, but also rapid modifications through mutations.
@josephnollasj risking killing an innocent person is baked into the reality of the death penalty. the powers that be understand this. human sacrifices, yes, accepting the reality of tragedy.
@small20151@darlingstrawbie Well, good luck, have fun. Im a mudblood, half asian, half white. I guess I'll be a solo player in our battle royale. Haha.
@small20151@darlingstrawbie Fair. I disagree and dont believe there is a need for any racial segregation, but at least you are consistent, and accept the logical consequences. Needless bloodshed imo, and ultimately anyone who takes up that initiaitve is eliminated. Live by the sword, die by the sword.
