Some of our friends who are fans of St. Pauli sometimes get upset with us for criticizing the club’s management and the Ultra’ Sankt Pauli group. We'd like to explain why we voice these criticisms:

FC St Pauli have now issued at least 3 statements since October 7, 2023 that try to apportion equal responsibility to both sides in a thoroughly unequal conflict. They ignore the reality that #Gaza is an open air concentration camp modelled on Nazi principles of organisation by Israel. There are not “two sides” in a genocide. There are only victims & perpetrators. Israel is the perpetrator and its biggest supplier of weapons (outside of the USA) is Germany. Yet there has been no campaign to end German weapon sales to the zionist state.

In their most recent statement, FCSP continue to show greater sympathy to the soldiers of the IDF who’ve been killed in Gaza than to their innocent civilian victims. Expressions of sympathy towards Israeli hostages & members of the Hapoel Tel Aviv club and its fans take precedent over any thoughts of solidarity or sympathy towards Palestinians.

St. Pauli, one of the most internationally recognized anti-fascist fan bases, should be taking a clear stance against genocide. Instead, it is showing great confusion and finding itself on the wrong side of history. We hope they will reconsider and correct this mistake.
