Mel Gibson was in this scene where Christ was crucified.
It's Mels hand in the scene.
He felt it necessary to participate in the depiction of Christ's suffering.
It was reportedly motivated by Gibsons desire to emphasize his own sinfulness and connection to the story.
Most people would like to jump to identify as the good guy, but it's this understanding and conviction that breeds real humility, and true spiritual growth towards aligning with Christ's will.
We like to think we'd always be the one to do the right thing and for some people that is true.
But in reality, history shows us that the mob often times fears government over God/conscience.
Christ's disciple Peter shows us the path, when he tells Christ to depart from me, when he feels the conviction of his own sin.
Because it hurts to be seen as weak. But ultimately it's an illusion. Because the real ones love when you own your ugliness and make steps to put it to rest.
The paradox is this, it is in the sacrifice of pride, ego (and to the extent it is sacrificed truly in your heart, will be the extent of the path revealed to you) you will be exalted. But as long as you try to be seen as good, or appear Holy, you'll get what you deserve (the appearance of love but not the real thing).
Hell is full of people who are holier than thou.
1%
What that 1 % is will be different for each soul.
It may be 5 minutes of silence in a world of noise.
It may be a few extra reps at the gym than normal.
It may be a father being more present with his children.
It may be learning a new skill.
The world:
Trust yourself.
Follow your heart.
Christ:
Deny yourself.
Follow me.
Lean not on your own understanding.
The heart is deceitful above all things.
The waters run deep in this world of sin.
And yet Christ overcame the world.
He paves the way.
Repent and believe.
Seek and you'll find.
A reminder for all.
You're never too far gone, "too deep" in the waters of sin.
You are forgiven.
Believe it and and don't look back.
When the mind, and the heart are in alignment, our speech creates and heals.
When the mind, and the heart are not in alignment, our speech destroys and wounds.
โMy grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."
Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christโs power may rest on me.
We have all fallen short.
Use the weaknesses and share your story of overcoming them.
Depressed?
Anxious?
Fearful?
Good.
These are callings from God that you are not in alignment.
Be honest where you're off and address it.
Change the way you think.
Change the way you act.
Trust the process.
In the United States
We've collectively been brainwashed to believe we are a Democracy, we are not.
We are a Constitutional Republic, it is our responsibility collectively to keep it that way.
Freedom is found in the paradox.
Those that humble themselves will be exalted.
Those that exalt themselves will be humbled.
He who knows everything knows nothing.
