@TheWholeShebang@JessicaLexicus Over the years I’ve gathered quite a collection of books- identification guides, cooking, growing, woodworking, shelter building, making and mending. My lifeboat library will remain a resource if the internet goes down..
Staverton is an amazing place with staggeringly impressive pollards. I had the pleasure of attending a Millennium Celebration of Trees here and on a guided walk with the legendary Oliver Rackham.
Time off work to attend the Ancient Tree Forum field trip to Staverton this morning & meet some near 1000 year old oaks. Hearing lots of concern from the tree warden, pathogen, pollution & climate change putting them at risk now, he's seen decline in last 5/10 years.
After a cracking start we are just starting our second session with @Nik_Ilic - ‘The British who defended Serbia during the Great War 1915-18 - The story of Admiral Ernest Troubridge and the wider British contribution to the Second Serbian Campaign through to the end of the War’.
Hot chocolate with a hint of oxtail or oxtail soup with a hint of chocolate. Almost the best part after swimming in near subzero water at Heston or Isleworth c. 1970s/1980s!
Such a pleasure at Snape Maltings yesterday to conduct my singers in a truly gorgeous piece of music, a beautiful poem set by Estonian composer Pärt Uusberg, 'Muusika'.
(Shame Twitter cuts off the beginning 🙄)
