Even tho this vid's over a month old now, I figured a little self-promo would be nice since I'm fairly proud of it. I made a compilation of some of my fav clips of Polnareff from the French OVA dub and subtitled them into English

no it didn't!
While someone's pc did freeze as a result of having to render Devastator, no computer ever exploded. this is a misconception spread as a result of people mistaking this staged gag from the behind the scenes as what really happened.
@HISSING_PRIGS It's the same case as some other names that are sometimes hypercorrected in fan translations, like Straizo and Avdol. Think of it like how the Zeppeli family name is a reference to Led Zeppelin, but we don't call them the Zeppelin family
@HISSING_PRIGS Kars, Wamuu, and Esidisi are their intended names. That is how Araki has spelled them in English because they look more exotic that way, and in Wamuu's case, his name in Japanese has a long U vowel at the end (ワムウ, Wamū instead of ワム, Wamu)
As the director of the English dub and the voice of Grimmer therein, I’ve been waiting the better part of 20 years for this moment. 🥳 Please give this amazing story the love it deserves! 🙏
confession i dont get why we judge a language for how it pronounces a loanword bc im pretty sure there isnt a single language on earth that actually preserves the native pronunciation of all its loanwords. like its literally a completely natural linguistic process you guys its ok
