Per anni qualcuno ha festeggiato medaglieri “ripuliti” dagli avversari più forti, ha brindato a podi diventati improvvisamente più facili, ha raccontato certe vittorie come se il livello dello sport fosse magicamente cresciuto.

Poi i russi sono tornati.

Non con la bandiera.
Non con l’inno.
Non con i simboli nazionali.

Sono tornati in pedana.

E lì, purtroppo per qualcuno, non esistono comunicati, sanzioni, conferenze stampa o superiorità morale da esibire.

Esistono esercizi, difficoltà, precisione, talento e punteggi.

Risultato del Campionato Europeo di ginnastica artistica a Zagabria, considerando senior e junior, uomini e donne:

🥈 12 ARGENTI
🥉 6 BRONZI

Totale: 28 MEDAGLIE.

PRIMO POSTO NEL MEDAGLIERE COMPLESSIVO.

Cinque anni lontani dagli Europei.

Cinque anni nei quali molti hanno avuto il tempo di convincersi di essere diventati improvvisamente imbattibili.

Poi si riapre la porta.

Entrano quelli che mancavano.

E il castello delle statistiche costruite in loro assenza comincia a scricchiolare.

La parte più divertente?

All’inizio la Croazia aveva perfino negato diversi visti alla delegazione russa.

Poi le decisioni sono state in parte riviste.

E una volta arrivati a Zagabria, i ginnasti hanno fatto ciò che nello sport conta più di qualsiasi dichiarazione politica:

HANNO GAREGGIATO.

E hanno vinto.

Molto.

A chi negli ultimi anni si era abituato a celebrare vittorie ottenute senza alcuni dei concorrenti storicamente più forti della disciplina, oggi resta forse una piccola lezione:

puoi togliere una bandiera dal tabellone.
Puoi togliere un inno dal palazzetto.
Puoi perfino cambiare la sigla accanto al nome.

Ma quando l’atleta sale sull’attrezzo, la propaganda finisce.

E resta soltanto il valore.

He was drawing graffiti for Russian attacks on Lviv’s infrastructure.

That is what the Security Service of Ukraine seriously claims.
