Came across this message and still a bit crazy to me the more I have been thinking about it, Joined Browserbase a week after this message got sent in a Sneaker Discord. For the ones that dont know my "lore": Was originally a Quality Engineer/Software Engineer working on transmission data at John Deere. I was tasked to make applications that could automate data analysis on poor quality parts. As a Part Time Student, I would never get a reply back from engineers that owned internal databases, or they simply would say no, this is when I got heavily into playwright. I was writing code to bypass internal software security just so I could get access to a database served in an internal website and be able to scrape everything out. I had no one on my team that knew how to code, and every time I reached out for help, I was usually punished by talks or write ups for asking others questions since no one else was available (pre ai as well). After continuing on the path of automation, I got permanently terminated for "purposefully downloading malware", which was playwright, an http interception client (charles), and other automation libraries I was using to do my job. Ngl that was so unfair, my mentor was also the one to report me to a cyber hotline as controlling browsers was "hacky" and didnt fit company protocol. I got punished for delivering and completing projects I was tasked to do. I soon after shot this message below into a discord channel. @pookybypass somehow got me connected to @pk_iv , which at the time was the day after the termination. I told Paul all about my experience in sneakerdev and browser automation, and since then my team has grown to 7 individuals, 5 of which are from the same community. I joined browserbase when it was just me, @pk_iv , jason (sorry dude I cant find your @ rn), and another engineer, it was crazy to think that I somehow was useful from my experience and was working with insanely talented engineers all of a sudden. A week prior I thought I was going to continue at Deere for the rest of my life, and it changed just like that. Since then I have grown immensely. I have learned more within my soon to be 2 years at Browserbase than any of my time at my previous employer. Im so thankful to work with a team that wants to succeed and is so close already from prior experiences. I am also super thankful to have Paul put his trust into me, a random self taught swe from Iowa whilst still in my junior year of college. If I had never been involved with sneakers or having that termination, I would never been where I am today. The @browserbase team is a family. @pk_iv said something today that really struck out to me which was "it makes me happy to see everyone happy". Ive never had a mentor or boss that is so close knit with their employees whilst still providing value and can show collaboration. Everyday the team sits with each other during lunch, we crack jokes constantly (sorry @peytoncasper) , and always have people to talk to regarding work or personal problems. It truly is a wonderful place to work. Coming from my experience, I never would have thought that a dream of working on a team that wanted to help me was going to come true. It felt like I was born to be here. Browserbase feels like home.
