The role of the faithful expository preacher is to set forth the eternal words of Scripture. Only the Holy Spirit can apply those words to human hearts or even open eyes to understand and receive the text.
We must affirm emphatically and without reservation that Scripture is sufficient to reveal everything needed for our salvation, the Christian life, right doctrine, right worship, and answers for Christian faithfulness in the world.
Our God is not waiting to see how history unfolds. The God of Scripture is the God who ordains all things according to the counsel of his will. He is the God who acts in history. He is the transcendent, eternal, sovereign, omnipotent, and omniscient God.
