This is not a moral question, it is a logical one.
When someone takes maternity leave (a very good thing), the maternity leave is typically paid on minimal salary, and the post is routinely left empty. There is no automatic funding for a temporary replacement.
I do not understand why people are not very angry about this.
A healthcare worker unable to get to work has said he fears about the fuel protest could delay women in labour getting to hospital.

MESSAGE
I wholeheartedly endorse the powerful appeal for peace made by the Holy Father, Pope Leo, during his Palm Sunday Mass. His call for the laying down of arms and the renunciation of violence resonated profoundly with me, as it speaks to the very essence of what all major religions teach.
Indeed, whether we look to Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, Judaism or any of the world's great spiritual traditions, the message is fundamentally the same: love, compassion, tolerance, and self-discipline. Violence finds no true home in any of these teachings. History has shown us time and again that violence only begets more violence and is never a lasting foundation for peace.
An enduring resolution to conflict, including the ones we see in the Middle East or between Russia and Ukraine, must be rooted in dialogue, diplomacy and mutual respect — approached with the understanding that, at the deepest level, we are all brothers and sisters.
I urge for and pray that the violence and conflicts may soon come to an end.

Canada tips its hat (and an extravagant wig) to Catherine O’Hara. From Moira Rose’s dramatic diction to Delia Deetz’s chaotic chic and Kate McAllister’s iconic “KEVIN!”, her characters lit up our screens. Thanks for the magic, Catherine. 🇨🇦❤️
Statement by the Premier of Greenland, Jens Frederik Nielsen:
January 4, 2026
“🇬🇱 Let me state this calmly and clearly from the outset: there is neither reason for panic nor for concern.
The image shared by Katie Miller, depicting Greenland wrapped in an American flag, changes nothing whatsoever. Our country is not for sale, and our future is not decided by social media posts.
That said, the image is disrespectful.
Relations between nations and peoples are built on mutual respect and international law — not on symbolic gestures that disregard our status and our rights.
We are a democratic society with self-government, free elections, and strong institutions. Our position is firmly grounded in international law and in internationally recognized agreements. This is not in question.
Naalakkersuisut (Government of Greenland) continues its work calmly and responsibly. We engage in dialogue, safeguard our interests, and uphold the international rules that also bind our partners.
There is no reason for panic.
But there is every reason to speak out against a lack of respect. 🇬🇱”

Observational study of fibrinogen for diagnosis of GCA
At a cutoff of 4.7, roughly similar diagnostic performance as compared to ESR/CRP
Kind of neat, but does not appear to have additive benefit
