just a thinking thought this morning but car-centric infrastructure really caps the amount of people that can congregate into a city they don't reside in already in a way that train centric doesn't. Having to park all of those cars is a big restriction!
doing a PhD was cool bc I got to experience ~2 years of something approximating stability (2nd & 3rd year) and now that I'm over the hump & graduating sooner than later, I get to watch the impeding uncertainty come and see that feeling vanish!
my unprompted thought of the day is that I find it so gross how some people just outright reject the existence of a spiritual/inner world in what they see as common people
how much is the need to feel big & strong & confident on the road tied to how much driving fucking sucks and makes you feel vulnerable? this just shows how much people want a sense of security which actually is a good thing to want I think
Someone inspired me to call these “emotional support cars” because that’s really what they are for such a large portion of the weirdos who need these to feel big and strong and confident on the road.
like in the sense that past events in your life might explain some of your traits but nevertheless they do not necessarily dictate that you must have those as a result
