$ASTS
The recent convertible note was likely in part to cover upfront payment of this spectrum deal.
If so, it will be money well spent.
I expect rest of it goes toward more launch capacity and production ramp up.
President Trump signed a new space directive targeting more than 1,000 U.S. launches and reentries annually by 2030.
The goal is to rapidly expanding domestic space transportation capacity to support that growth.

Everyone's treating the "SpaceX and $ASTS both want $6B of 800 MHz" headline as a bidding war AST loses because SpaceX has more money. That's not really what's happening. The FCC didn't set up a sale. It set up a lease and partner-selection process. Grain has to pick a D2D satellite partner by Nov 5 and file applications by Dec 4. So AST doesn't need to buy this outright, it just needs to be selected. It has ~$3.7B cash, can't write a $6B check, but can easily lease.
Also, @SpaceX and @AST_SpaceMobile are built for different spectrum. SpaceX just spent ~$19B on EchoStar's mid-band and S-band around 2 GHz, and its next-gen Direct-to-Cell satellites are designed for that. Its birds don't use low-band 800 MHz. It would have to redesign hardware to use it.
AST's satellites already support 800 MHz. 10 in orbit, 80%+ of Block 2 in production for the band, and it sits right next to the AT&T and Verizon 850 MHz AST already leases. For AST this band is core. For SpaceX it's optional.
So why would SpaceX bid on spectrum it isn't built to use? Probably to block AST, or just optionality given the balance sheet. Not because it needs it.
Realistic outcome: AST gets access through Grain's lease process, which is the path the FCC actually built, not a $6B purchase by anyone. Affordable, fits their tech, and the FCC already hinted AST is the obvious D2D partner.
Bottom line, this is better for AST than "SpaceX will outbid them" suggests. AST doesn't need to outbid. It needs to be picked. And on this band, it's the one actually built for it. 🛰️
Deutsche Bank thinks $ASTS could scale into a massive global connectivity platform with the firm seeing supplemental coverage subscribers growing more than 12x to 65.4M by 2030.
That volumes being supported by 60+ MNO partners, nearly 50 gateways across five continents and government pipeline that already includes $100M of awards with management pointing to multiple multibillion-dollar opportunities beyond D2D.
The biggest constraint right now is launch availability rather than demand or manufacturing as satellite production ramps toward ~45 completed by February while Deutsche Bank models the constellation scaling to 320 cumulative satellites by 2030.
A lot of people on X are new to the markets. So I'll make this as simple and harsh as possible.
The economy is not going up. It is not going down. It is doing both at the same time. This is called a "K-shaped
economy" and almost nobody talking about affordability on your timeline understands what it actually means.
If you own assets, stocks and real estate, you are on the upper arm of the K. Your wealth has compounded aggressively since 2020. The S&P is at all-time highs. Home prices are up 50% since the pandemic. Your 401k is the best it has ever been.
If you do NOT own assets, you are on the lower arm. Rent is higher. Groceries cost more. A home that cost 2.2x the median income in 1960 now costs 5 to 7x. You are working harder and falling further behind, and it is not your imagination.
The top 10% of Americans own 93% of all stocks. The bottom 50% own 1%. The top 10% hold 68% of total wealth. The bottom 50% hold 2.5%. This is not an opinion. This is Federal Reserve data.
When the S&P goes up 25% in a year, the people who own stocks get 25% wealthier. The people who don't own stocks get nothing. That is the K. Same economy.
Two completely different outcomes based on one thing: whether you owned assets before the run started.
This is why your timeline is split in half. Half the people saying the economy has never been better. The other half saying they can't afford to live. Both are telling the truth. They are just on different arms of the K.
How long does this last?
The honest answer is that it has been going on for decades. The Richmond Fed traced this pattern back 30 years. It happened after 2001. It happened after 2008. It happened after COVID. Each time the gap widened and never fully closed before the next shock hit.
The last time wealth concentration looked like this was the Gilded Age, 1870 to 1900. That lasted 30 years before structural reform changed anything.
What does this mean for you?
The K-shaped economy is not a reason to panic. It is a reason to understand where you sit and what you can control.
The people on the upper arm did not get lucky. They owned assets. That is the entire difference.
Change your life and start small. No matter how small your account balance is. I only started with $10K, twenty years ago. This is your time to retire your whole family. They are counting on you.
$ASTS: 🚨🇺🇸 FCC FILING HINTS THAT AST SPACEMOBILE AND T-MOBILE HAVE EXISTING WORKING AGREEMENT IN THE USA
👀 FCC Grants AST SpaceMobile 30-day STA to test 800MHz spectrum recently licensed to T-Mobile and sold to Grain Management. STA must comply with "existing agreements between AST and T-Mobile"
➡️ The 30-day STA is to test 817–824 MHz / 862–869 MHz (7x7 MHz) nationwide cellular spectrum using up to 100x commercially available phones. AST is testing to evaluate “additional spectrum and capacity” for nationwide broadband direct-to-device service.
🚨 The most interesting part is Condition #7: the FCC says all testing must comply with “all existing agreements between AST SpaceMobile and T-Mobile USA.” This is strong evidence that AST and T-Mobile already have a direct contractual/technical relationship around this spectrum.
🚨 The timing is very notable. The FCC approved the T-Mobile-to-Grain spectrum transfer on 7/1, AST filed this STA on 7/2, the deal closed this week, and the FCC granted AST authority today. This suggests that Grain acquired this spectrum with AST as a key monetization/deployment path, with T-Mobile still involved 👀
✅Strategically, this could be much bigger than a simple test. If AST can layer this 7x7 MHz block alongside the 850 MHz spectrum already tied to AT&T/Verizon, it creates a much larger low-band D2D footprint and raises the possibility that AST becomes a neutral satellite-RAN layer serving all three national carriers ➡️ TELCO JOINT VENTURE ⬅️
👉Recall AST disclosed that it expects to deploy 100MHz of spectrum in the USA. I covered how Grain Management is likely a key piece of the puzzle by contributing 14MHz of paired cellular spectrum

I came away from $ASTS earnings more bullish because the business is moving to actually building the network with revenue roughly doubling sequentially to $32M, backlog reaching ~$1.3B, 13 satellites now in orbit and production already extending through BlueBird 46.
With more than $3.7B of liquidity, financing the first phase looks much less risky while the bigger execution question is how quickly ~$610M of quarterly capex can turn satellites, launches, manufacturing and gateways into a functioning commercial network.
That spending is what eventually unlocks the model because AST is effectively building a cellular network before turning it on and if service launches on schedule then management’s path toward ~$1B of revenue in the first full year starts to look much more realistic..

$ASTS - Rakuten CEO Mikitani comments J-LEO
"AST SpaceMobile's J-LEO project in Japan will become extremely important going forward,"
"To be honest, Starlink's short messaging service might only work if you can see the sky, but I personally feel that broadband (high-speed, high-capacity communication) is technically quite difficult to implement." In response, he said, "AST SpaceMobile has the potential to become the only (broadband) service in sparsely populated areas and at sea in the future," emphasizing its potential as a high-speed internet communication service that supports daily life and economic activities."
"We believe that this will become a service that can be used in various ways for the benefit of our country, and that we are bearing the extremely important responsibility of realizing the first low-Earth orbit satellite with Japanese nationality,"
"Creating a system that can continue services even during power outages, and above all, the ability of AST SpaceMobile to provide broadband, are extremely important,"
"In the event of a major disaster like this, we can flexibly move the target area. We want to realize a system where we allocate a more generous frequency band to the affected area and continue providing services."
