Personas are Radix’s dedicated system for Web3 identity and passwordless login.

Separate from your token-holding Smart Account, you can create as many Personas as you like.

We all know that the passwords of Web2 are a security nightmare.

But the current solution provided by the likes of Apple, Google, and Microsoft is for “Passkeys”. These allow you to log in to websites without a password.

But the dirty secret is that it only works because the secret key on the phone gets backed up to their proprietary cloud in case you lose the phone.

If they get hacked, or someone tricks their support staff into resetting your cloud password, the attacker gets everything in one shot.

Personas have the same strong cryptographic security as signing a transaction with a smart account – and losing your phone doesn’t mean recovering from iCloud; you recover directly with the factors configured on-ledger by the Radix Wallet.

And by separating your identity from the account that holds your assets, when you sign in with a Persona, you’re no longer giving away your financial history each time you want to log in to a website.
