Everything you always wanted to know About #ITALODISCO (but were afraid to ask) - Dancecult Journal 17.1 ("#EDM and its discontents") includes a short essay on the historical emergence and current uses of the termi 'italodisco' https://t.co/Z4TswHGF27
My paper on late artist #ChiaraFumai (aka DJ #PippiLangstrumpf) and her lecture-performance on the semi-ficticious history of #Italodisco has been published in the IMAGO academic journal.

So sad to hear of the passing of the brilliant and generous polymath Jonathan Sterne, whose scholarship I’ve admired and greatly appreciated — and the same goes for our too-brief in-person interactions.
A new paper about Alessandro #Mendini's Architetture Sussurranti (whispering architectures), sound art and popular music (in Italian) https://t.co/KRRi7InEQt
Adorno: "Adaptation to machine music necessarily implies a renunciation of one's own human feelings." – No better description of groove probably exists (Tan Lin)
"Contrary to its objective, artist-centric payment system does not improve remuneration to artists while a user-centric payment system would generate more changes in revenue reallocation, mainly at the expense of Rap & Hip-hop, superstars and new releases" https://t.co/aHts093USN
Question to all #DJs, professional or not, new or @djhistory, known or @SecretDJBook. Did you ever get tipped by a happy punter? If so, in what amounts and currencies? I’ll start: only twice in 20 years. 20 British pounds each time and neither party was in the UK. #aboutlastnight
@SecretDJBook@djhistory Cool, but bribery for song requests does not count as tip. I once got thrown a yellow 200€ bill in the face by someone really drunk at Pacha terrace. Not a tip (and yes I kept it #DJreflexes)
@SecretDJBook Hold your horses: "A similar pattern of loss of segregation between brain networks is produced by nitrous oxide and ketamine, suggesting that the psychedelic dimension observed here may generalize to psychedelic-like dissociative drugs".
