The Balancing Act🩰
From the sold-out Barclays Center at night to V Magazine's set in the morning, @MelanieLBBH knows how to keep it moving. For a shoot inspired by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger's 1948 film 'The Red Shoes,' Martinez finds a fitting mirror in its tale of a creative who lives—and would die— for her art.
The parallels are clear for an artist who has spent more than a decade building worlds and surrendering herself completely to each one. "The ability to create and make a living off of my art-that is success to me," she tells V Magazine's @LilNervous, also an old collaborator of Martinez's. "I've never had an idea of external validation dictating what success is. Being able to create freely is everything."
