Dharma talk and conversation on the theme of perfectly imperfect, practicing from a place of abundance, this Sunday evening at the SF Commons. A friend will also be offering some gong fu style tea for the conversation portion of the evening.

what it means to hold a dream in your heart is to remember it day by day, year by year. to believe in yourself in the quiet moments and the challenges and the solitude and the pain and even the triumph. to hold a seed in gardensoil and let it surprise U when it becomes a flower
We don’t need to (nor can we or should we) become awareness, Buddha, or enlightenment. Big pervasive mistake!
We realize it’s a principle inherent in ourselves and all beings, fully complete here and now. Maybe meeting each moment just as it is without controlling it is the practice of the Buddhas.
@TVachaW@richardludlow Probably more nuance, too, and different ways of looking at this but yea, yogic, heart, gut, body, community practices all are really important for us to look at.
@TVachaW@richardludlow Yes, they are, and I think there’s a notion that if you take care of one side it takes care of all the rest, which I don’t think is true. These things are interdependent and interrelated but also distinct— sort of like cords in a cable.
Glad to be waking up in Yosemite. Grateful for this place, and places like it, and the ways they replenish my own and so many other souls.
“Everyone needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and cheer and give strength to the body and soul alike.” -John Muir
@zencephalon@sarabollman It can and often does go the other way around too. Either way, we are form and spirit, and both sides of us seem to be calling to find their full expression and be in balance
My hot take is twofold: I noticed my enneagram shifted similarly over course of practice. I suspect it’s that I am now more like what 3 year old version of me was like though — kind of revealed my basic temperament and personality.
Also, though, I noticed less extremes, and more balance amongst the types, and I have wondered, for example, is anyone really a pure introvert or extrovert by nature or are the more extremes related to clinging.
I don’t know though and this is a very loose and rough musing👏🏼
whatever situation U are in is an opportunity to cultivate some virtue. it may not be the virtue U want to cultivate. it may not be a situation U even want to be in. but U can always learn, grow, develop
@zencephalon True story.
That’s always seemed really clear to me, that good analysts, coaches, teachers, etc — different modalities but it’s basically a transmission of love.
